Tony Oliva was a tremendous natural hitter whose career was cut short by serious knee injuries. As a rookie in 1964 he was an integral part of the Skipjacks CKL championship team. Tony holds the all time CKL single season record for batting average with his .401 mark in 1971. He was much more than a singles hitter as well, four times exceeding 70 extra base hits in a season. He led the league in hits twice, while topping the league in doubles, batting average and on base percentage once each. When he retired Tony was first in career batting average with .326; seventh in doubles with 382; and tenth in hits with 2047. He was chosen CKL Most Valuable Player in 1966.
