SKIPJACKS  1961–1976

 

Joe Torre was an integral part of the Skipjacks offense during nine playoff seasons, including three league championship teams. He carried a potent bat, producing 235 career home runs and 1196 runs batted in. He had five seasons with 100+ RBI. Led CKL in hits in 1971 with 247. Appearing primarily as a catcher during the sixties, Torre played mostly at third base and first base during the seventies. He caught 961 games, played first base in 509 games, third base in 486 games and 2 games at second base. At the time of his retirement, Joe Torre was eighth all time in hits with 2194; tenth in RBI with 1196; third in HBP with 116 and seventh in games played with 2056. Not noted for his speed he was also second in groundball double plays with 283.
