PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS

Yet another near no hitter this week. That brings the total of one hitters so far this season to five. This week's near miss belongs to long time CKL star Bob Gibson. Gibby tossed his gem for the Legends against the Iron on May 8th. The only safety he permitted the Iron belonged to Graig Nettles who managed to leg out a slow roller with one down in the second inning. Nettles, not particularly noted for his speed, topped a slow roller just out of Gibson's reach. Second baseman Ted Sizemore, playing back a bit for the power hitting Nettles, charged hard and made a nice play, but there was no question in anyone's mind that it was too late to catch Nettles.

2 Hitter or Better:
Bob Gibson (1 hit), Legends vs Iron, 5/8

Shutouts:
Mike Torrez, Loggers vs Legends, 5/2  6-0
Joe Decker, Shoeless Joes vs Skipjacks, 5/3  3-0

BATTER OF THE WEEK
JOE MORGAN
KNIGHTS

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
BOB GIBSON
LEGENDS

Long time CKL star Bob Gibson is our Pitcher of the Week. The free agent Legends pickup produced nice dividends on the investment this week. Gibson went 2-0 in his pair of starts, including a complete game, one hit shutout of the Iron on May 8th. In 17 innings he produces a 0.53 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and struck out seven batters.
